Membership & Lapsation Committee

Making Membership Matter in Massachusetts!

Membership will always be the lifeblood of our Order and should be considered as our primary gol each and every year!

We begin this fraternal year with a membership of 36,254 in our 55 Lodges spread across the beautiful commonwealth of Massachusetts. This comes after suffering a loss of 361 Members during our 2024-2025 year.  Although we were not fortunate to sustain a net gain, we were able to initiate 2297 new Members into our Lodges and we had many of our Lodges achieve a gain in membership which takes a lot of hard work.

Moving forward into our new year we will push hard to promote the growth of membership in Massachusetts not just from the outside but from the inside as well. We will look to be part of this year’s national success story as we an organization “Strive for Five!”

Your Membership Committee will be working hard to make retention of our members its primary focus. We will look to teach the importance of letting our newest Members be a part their Lodges by including them in our charitable acts and activities. We need to be more successful with gaining their interest through our interview and orientation onboarding program. By accepting new ideas and voices within our Lodges we will become stronger, and we will give our newer Members a reason to stay rather than be pushed away.

I encourage all of you to visit Elks.org and utilize the information that is available to you in the Membership Toolkit and the Membership Guide.

Please remember that membership cannot be the sole responsibility of the Lodge Secretary!! It’s up to all of us!!

I challenge all of you to reach out to a delinquent member today and ask them to stay with us and be a part of the greatest Fraternal Organization in the United States. Let this be the year that Massachusetts finishes number one in Area 1!!!

LET MEMBERSHIP THRIVE IN 2025!

Fraternally, Bob Wambach, PSP, GLC, State Membership Chair
