MA Elks Build-A-Bed Area Events
The Massachusetts Elks Association is PROUD to work with the Organization A Bed for Every Child of Massachusetts.
Massachusetts faces a concerning level of childhood poverty, where many families struggle to provide basic necessities due to the soaring cost of living.
Despite their crucial role in a child’s development and well-being, essential items like beds are often overlooked. A comfortable bed ensures restful sleep and supports children’s academic performance and overall health.
In a state where expenses continue to skyrocket, the simplicity of having a bed becomes a luxury for many. A Bed for Every Child aims to bridge this gap, ensuring that no child is deprived of a fundamental element for growth and success—a comfortable and secure bed… And the MA Elks is here to help them!

How the MA Elks Can Help Them
BUILDING THE BEDS:
Each of our 3 MA Areas will be hosting a Build-A-Bed event. During each event, we will need Volunteers to build the beds. It is usualy teams of 3 – 5 people (to build 10 beds, a total of 30 – 50 people will be needed.) Building the beds is VERY easy, and the Organization supplies us with all the tools and supplies needed to do this. It’s more like assembling a bed than building one.
The day starts off with a representitive from A Bed for Every Child showing us a short video on how to build each bed… and then we all go at it! During the building proccess, representitives are with us to help us if needed, but again, it is SO easy and the whole building process takes about an hour. Then at the end, each team of builders gets to custom paint decals to add to the bed, this makes EVERY bed completely one-of-a-kind!
BEDDING THE BEDS:
A Bed for Every Child needs bedding for the beds as well… we ask participants to bring a donation of any of the following:
-NEW Pillow
-NEW Twin Sized Sheets
-NEW Twin Sized Comforter
-NEW Stuffed Animal
These donations can be brought to the event or can be dropped off to one of the Area’s Chairpersons prior (see the information below for more info on each Area’s Event and Chairperson Contact Info.)

Our 2024 Build-A-Bed Events were a HUGE SUCCESS!!
Thank you to all the Volunteers who came out to help build the beds in 2024! Thank you to all the people who donated the pillows, sheets & comforters, and the stuffued animals! And thank you to the Organization, A Bed for Every Child, for all that they do to help “give a child a place to dream!”

2025 EVENT for AREA 1:
Location: Gardner Lodge of Elks #1426, 31 Park Street, Gardner, MA 01440
Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
Time: 9:00am – Registration & Instructions and then we will all build the beds.
How to Participate:
-Simply bring a team of 3 – 5 people to build or show-up individualy to join a team (no tools will be needed, and there will be easy directions to follow.)
-Simply show-up around 8:30am-8:45 to help as a kitchen crew or registration table volunteer.
Donations Needed: NEW Pillows, NEW Twin Sized Sheets, NEW Twin Sized Comforters, NEW Stuffed Animals. Simply bring these donations with you to the event or drop them off at the Gardner Lodge prior to the event if you’re not able to make the event.
